The Granfondo Dobbiaco Cortina

Dobbiaco, the village of the Three Peaks, even in this winter season will organize the popular Grandfondo Dobbiaco Cortina.

On 5th February 2012 will take place the 35th edition of this international cross country skiing competition in classic style. Optimal snow conditions, a unique landscape and a lot of spectators along the course expect participants.

Those who prefer free style, can register for the race from Fiames to Dobbiaco scheduled for saturday, 4th February 2012. We wish all athletes a lot of success and all the spectators an unforgettable holiday in the Dolomites.

Dolomiti Balloonfestival with an interesting program

Always dreamed of flying above the clouds and of enjoying the view of the top of the Dolomites? You have the great opportunity soon! From 7th January till 15th January 2012 takes place the Dolomiti Balloonfestival in Alta Pusteria / Hochpustertal. This event celebrates its 10th birthday and on this occasion there will be also this year an interesting festival program for children and adults.

The Alpine Ski World Cup in South Tyrol

Unquestioned it is a highlight of the winter events in South Tyrol: Men’s Alpine Ski World Cup in Val Gardena and in Alta Badia. On 16th and 17th of December 2011 the great champions of the speed disciplines will get for the medals in Super-G and in Downhill.

On 18th of December 2011 in program the traditional pre-Christmas Highlight in Alta Badia: Men’s Giants slalom. And this year new in program: Nations Team Event on 20th of December 2011.

So, only a few weeks and we will know the winner 2011 of Val Gardena and of Alta Badia.

Winter program for nature lovers and sport friends

The Alpin School Globo Alpin offers an interesting active program for nature lovers and sport friends whole the year.

The winter program, which is ending on 17th March 2011, contains winter walking tours and excursions with the snow shoes with a mountain guide. And that’s not enough: the Globo Alpin offers also a climbing course in the new climbing centre at the Nordic Arena in Toblach / Dobbiaco every Wednesday from 16 till 18 o’clock.

This program is gratis for the guests from the Apartments Haus zur Vogelweide in Toblach / Dobbiaco.

World Cup Biathlon in Anterselva / Antholz 2011

From today, Thursday 20th January till Sunday 23rd January 2011 takes place for the 33rd time the Biathlon World Cup in Anterselva / Antholz in South Tyrol. Thousands of biathlon friends will be along the slopes and in the Biathlon stadium to watch the world’s best biathletes, like Magdalena Neuner, Andrea Henkel, Tarjei Boe or Ole Einar Björndalen.

The Christmas Market in Brunico

Only a few weeks left till the Christmas Markets in South Tyrol are opening their doors.

The Christmas Market in Bruneck / Brunico is taking place from 26th November 2010 till 6th January 2011. The scent of mulled wine, tea and the melody of Christmas songs spread Christmas atmosphere in the Kronplatz area.
Furthermore you find presents for whole the family, for ex. Christmas tree decoration, toys and typical products.

The Dolomites – unique in winter as in summer

Holidays in the Dolomites? There is nothing more versatile!

While excursions and Nordic Walking, biking on the wonderful cycle tracks or relaxing in the open air pool are the activities during summertime. Skiing, snowboarding, walking with the snow shoes or relaxing some hours in the sauna are the activities during winter months.

If it’s raining or shining the sun, if it’s cold or warm – holidays in the Dolomites are always something special for young and old.

No wonder, that the Dolomites were designated as UNESCO – world heritage in 2009.

A year ago, in June 2009 the Dolomites were added to UNESCO’s list of world cultural and natural heritage sites. With this title it confirms its beauty and invites people to pass some days in this region.

Directly outside the Appartements Haus zur Vogelweide in Dobbiaco / Toblach are many hiking trails, from which you can discover the magnificent Dolomites. In winter or in summer, snowy mountains or steep rugged rocks, the Dolomites are always impressive!

Weekend program

This weekend are taking place some interesting events: the World Cup of Biathlon in Anterselva and the World Cup of Ski Alpine in Cortina. Sunday, the 24th January 2010 takes place the “Val Gardena Ciasp” in Val Gardena.
