Holiday in Val Pusteria - best comfort for everyone

The Puster Valley is located between East Tyrol and Mühlbach. Entering this Valley, well known as “Val Pusteria” or “Pustertal”, you see a magical landscape: deciduous and coniferous woodland, beautiful lakes, blooming flowers, high mountains, healthy air ecc. Making holiday in Val Pusteria means recreation between nature. But not only outside you can enjoy your holiday: comfortable hotels in Val Pusteria make your free days perfect, particularly on rainy days or in winter time. Most of these hotels are provided with swimming pools, spa area, beauty and sport area… That’s not enough: also the private rooms and apartments in Pustertal are very restful. Often the hosts offer typical products and special events. Val Pusteria is a country of big variety – best comfort everywhere for everyone.

It’s beginning the cycle-season

Somebody is already exercising for the runs, which take place every summer, other are making a trip, are going to work or in holidays by bike. Many guests come to South Tyrol by their cycles: they let their cars at home and make a few of miles daily till they have reached their holiday place.
Also professional bikers have discovered our country, for ex. the intermediate goal of the Giro d’Italia is taking place in Alpe di Siusi on 13th March 2009.

World Youth Championships - Südtirol 2009

Bressanone offers a rich calendar of events also this year: one important event is the World Youth Athletic Championship (from 8th to 12th July 2009).

These World Championships for athletes under 18 take place every 2 years (year of the first edition: 1999). The 6th edition of this sport event is taking place in South Tyrol, more precisely in Bressanone

In some places of South Tyrol, like Merano, the sun is already warming up the land, while in other parts, for example in Val Casies, is still a lot of snow.

Dolomiti Winter Triathlon

The Winter Triathlon of the Dolomites takes place in Alta Pusteria on 29th March 2009. The athletes start in the main square of Villabassa and have to run a distance of 5.2 km. After the running they change their trainers into the mountain bike: the distance with the bike is 12 km. The third and last part of this event takes the athletes to Braies: they have to do a 6 km long Alpine Skiing course.

Snowpark Kronplatz

This winter season the ski area Plan de Corones offers a great novelty for all freestylers: the “Snowpark Kronplatz”, the largest snow park in South Tyrol. At about 800 meters freestyle fans with the skis or snowboard, can have a lot of fun. The snow park is accessible by the lifts of the Kronplatz, for example from Valdaora and offers 4 lines in various degrees of difficulty, and a Family Fun Line with little steep curves and obstacles.

Area Kneipp in Villabassa

The village of Villabassa is well-known for its “health tourism”. Due to the mineral spring there was built one of the most beautiful “Kneipp annex” in the Alps area in the year 2005. A health resort where guests and locals can take a rest. And not only in summer: also during winter month the Tourist Board of Villabassa offers several Kneipp courses, because also in this cold season the immune system must be sustain.

Winter art in San Candido

Every year in San Candido there will be held the International Snow Sculpture Festival during the month of January. 3x3x3 m blocks of snow are located in different places of the village and the participating teams, on this blocks, can play with the wealth of their ideas. The results are wonderful snow sculptures. The works have all to be finished within 3 days, then they are going to be inspected and voted by guests and local residents.

Winner of this year was the team Italia II (Davide Galbiati, Matteo Schiavo and Francesco Bornati) with its Kung Fu Panda. Thanks to the low temperatures, the sculptures can be admired till the firs mild days, even in the evening as they are illuminated.

Biathlon in Valle Anterselva

Every year takes place the Biathlon World Cup in Anterselva, near the lake. The best biathletes of the world fight for a (gold-) medal on these days (22nd – 25th January 2009), while they get motivated from their best fans. Running power and concentration on the shooting stand are very important.  Some athletes lose their concentration and give off their first place.
Among the runs, the Valle Anterselva offers a great program and so everybody can have an unforgettable weekend.
